With such a relaxed atmosphere, the Suit of Hearts has been, by far, the most welcoming of the four within the Deck. As such they are a collection of various people, from high and low backgrounds. Some have even left other suits to seek asylum in the Hearts, while others come because of the Hearts' willing forgiveness of past sins; offering a chance to start over.
History
Not long after the creation of the Deck, an incident occured among the four Suits that made the Hearts step up to the role of the meditators for the Deck when civil war seemed iminent. With all the other Suits at one another’s throats concerning the smooth running and well-being of the Deck, the Founders agreed that a level headed intermediary was necessary for the smooth running. The Hearts, keeping in mind the emotional well-being of their people in the wake of the already-devestating civil war that allowed them to break away from the Arcana, stepped back, cleared their heads and talked sense into everyone and knew then and there it was perhaps their 'role' to do so.
Judith and Athena’s parents were the King and Queen of the Hearts. Slightly firmer than the current King and Queen, they entertained more strict protocol matters than what Ceiro and Judith require. They groomed their daughters to take over as royals and when Athena - their first choice for Queen - converted to the Spades, they rested their expectations on Judith’s shoulders. Ceiro was promoted up to King serve at Judith's side after they married.
The current King and Queen of Hearts have, in the long standing tradition of Hearts acting as mediator for Deck troubles, stepped in and spoken for the Deck in diplomatic situations. Many in the suit are known for their study in philosophy and ethics, particular their current King. Ceiro is a well known pacifist, while the Queen, Judith, is less so. Together they lead the suit in a direction they feel is best.
Arcana Relation
Cups in Tarot, they represent emotions, relationships, love, and intuition. In Tarot, the water molds itself to the cup. Hearts do the same. They mold themselves to the needs of others. Cups were the clergy.
Heart Families
Most old Deck families have ties to royalty in one way or another.
♥ Athena and Judith’s family is a perfect example of this.
♥ Ryans, Ceiro’s family, are much newer additions - barely 300 years old - but with Ceiro as the King of Hearts they tie themselves into royalty as well.
♥ Molyneux family has two Aces in their history, despite being fairly middling in general
